Dear students
We hope that you are well despite the isolation and that all the measures imposed have not caused you too many problems in carrying out your bachelor.
After the COVID-19 Ticino is on its feet again and trying to resume its normal daily activities. For our part, we are speeding up the pace and we remain confident that we will be ready, without delays or major changes for 14 September 2020. In case a second COVID-19 wave should require us to change our plans, we would be ready to adapt.
Despite the forced stop of all construction sites in March and April, the wing of the new Campus, where the Faculty of Biomedical sciences will be situated, is scheduled to be ready on time and shall be inaugurated with the start of the Master of Medicine. This is the first good news…
The second good news is that the planning of the first semester is practically completed and is ready to go into action. As you know, the semester will start with two General introduction weeks, of which the first three days of will take place at the Centro Sportivo Tenero (www.cstenero.ch/), an ideal place for all of us to get together, get to know each other and take the first steps of this wonderful adventure together. In addition to the educational activities, we have scheduled some moments of friendship with the following two special events. The first is a barbecue evening (14.9.2020, 18:00) offered by the Faculty, during which the teachers will turn into cooks (hopefully good cooks!). The second is a theatre event (15.9.2020, 20:30) that will take place at the Teatro Kursaal in Locarno. The play is entitled Icarus and tells the story of a patient who dreams of flying (www.finzipasca.com/it/creations/icaro/). Needless to say, we are extremely motivated and happy to start with the Master soon.
Thanks to competent staff and a great amount of motivation we are confident that we will meet your expectations and maybe even to surprise you.

Italian course intensive weeks
Twice a year, Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) organises two different Italian intensive courses. For USI students, these courses are free of charge (not included housing, food, travel, etc.) Depending on your Italian level, the courses start on different dates:
24.08.20 – 04.09.20 Level A1, A1-A2
31.08.20 – 11.09.20 Level A2, A2-B1

Mobility
The Mobility regulations have been approved and are online! As an USI student in of the Master of Medicine you are allowed to go in Mobility “out” for one semester, during the 2., 3., 4. or 6. Semester. Please read the regulation about eligibility, documentation and application process.

Master thesis
We are happy that so many of you have already chosen a thesis topic! Just remember (if not done yet) to fill in and sign the “Master thesis agreement” form and to send it to [email protected], in order to officially book the topic.
