The “Lecture of the Year” has been initiated in 2009 with the support of the “Sir John Eccles foundation” to demonstrate our commitment to excellence. We had the privilege to welcome researchers all over the world who make significant contribution in the field of basic and clinical neurosciences. The FNT (Fondazione Neuroscience Ticino) was founded in 2012 in Lugano, with the goal to promote the excellence of neuroscience in Ticino and improve patient care in neurological disorders. This year the NSI is pleased to honor Dr. Mark Hallet, Chief of the Human Motor Control Section, National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda Maryland, for his outstanding contributions and pioneer work in the area of “human motor system physiology and education of the neurological world community”. The “NSI” in Lugano is the only Neurocenter for the Southern Italian speaking part of Switzerland and regroups all public Institutions dealing with, Neurology, Neuroimaging, Neurosurgery, Neuroanaesthesia and Pain Center encompassing the whole spectrum of the Neuroscience disciplines in close collaboration with other Swiss and International Universities and Research Institutions
