From 20 to 22 August 2025, the second "Maternity and Medical Humanities" Summer School will take place, organised and directed by Dr Laura Lazzari Vosti, a researcher at Fondazione Sasso Corbaro for Medical Humanities.

The course consists of six half-day modules each: an opening round table, four lectures on specific topics held by experts in the field or by a curator, and a closing module in which doctoral and post-doctoral students will participate. The finalised training programme will be available soon.

Fondazione Sasso Corbaro is announcing a call for applications for three scholarships aimed at doctoral students focusing on maternity from an interdisciplinary perspective. Scholarship recipients will not have to pay the participation fee for the three-day programme and will be invited to present their work during the closing session. A list of potential topics is provided in the attached poster.

In their presentations, doctoral students should consider the overarching goals of the training programme. These goals include: raising awareness of the caring and supportive relationships involved in (non-)parenting, the journey to pregnancy, the gestational period, childbirth, and the postnatal phase; encouraging the exchange of ideas and perspectives among various professionals engaged in caregiving and nursing; providing interdisciplinary reflections and tools that enhance care and support for individuals and their families; and exploring writing and storytelling techniques that can help individuals process their own experiences more effectively, improve caregiving relationships, and enhance communication between patients and caregivers.

Presentations will take place in Italian and in attendance. Interested parties are requested to send their CV with a list of publications, a short biography of 80-100 words, the title of their presentation and a 250-word abstract to Dr. Laura Lazzari Vosti by Wednesday, 11 June 2025. PhD students invited to present their work at the Summer School will be notified by Friday, 11 July 2025.
