Prestigious SNSF grant to Prof. Marco Valgimigli for an innovative clinical study in cardiology

Prof. Marco Valgimigli, an Adjunct professor at the Faculty of Biomedicine of Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) and Deputy Chief of Cardiology at Istituto Cardiocentro Ticino of the EOC, has received an important grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).
Prof. Valgimigli's clinical project, titled TicIn for the Treatment of coronAry lesioNs - PlAque Regression AnD stabilISation with drug Eluting balloons (TITAN-PARADISE), has been selected as part of the prestigious Investigator Initiated Clinical Trials (IICT) initiative. The approved funding totals CHF 2,068,700 for five years, beginning on July 1, 2025. This grant marks the first time a project led by a clinical researcher in Ticino has received such support, highlighting the scientific excellence and credibility achieved in our Canton, particularly in the realm of independent clinical research.
The study involves collaboration with centres of excellence at a national level, including the Kantonsspital in Lucerne and the Regional Hospital of Lugano, as well as an important partnership with the University of Bern.
