In recent days, the Steering Board of the Swiss Clinical Trial Organisation (SCTO) unanimously elected Prof. Dr. med. Alessandro Ceschi as its President. He is the Head of the General Management EOC Medical Training and Research Area and a Professor at the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences at USI.

The appointment is significant and prestigious for Professor Ceschi, as well as for EOC, Università della Svizzera italiana, and Ticino, concerning research, progress, and innovation in healthcare.

A unique chance to transfer regional skills to national and international networks.

The SCTO is a nationally significant research infrastructure and a recognised academic institution for high-quality, patient-oriented clinical research in Switzerland.
It is an independent organisation based on a joint initiative of the SNSF (Swiss National Science Foundation) and the SAMS (Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences), and a research infrastructure of national importance funded by the SEFRI (State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation) and the SNSF.
SCTO aggregates a national network of CTUs (Clinical Trial Units - Clinical Research Centres), in particular comprising the CTUs of the five Swiss university hospitals, the Hoch Health Ostschweiz and our Ente Ospedaliero Cantonale, and a central representation and coordination office in Berne.
The organisation's primary objective is to promote and harmonise high-level clinical research in Switzerland, helping to position the country as a leader on the international stage, ensuring that innovative, effective, and safe therapies are made available to society and all patients.
