Professor Mattia Arrigo's inaugural lecture: "From an organ-centric approach to integrated management"

Professor Mattia Arrigo, who recently joined the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences at USI, will give the inaugural lecture "From an organ-centric approach to integrated management. A paradigm shift in acute heart failure care and the lessons for modern medicine". The event will take place on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, at 6 pm at the USI West Campus Auditorium and will be held in English.
The rising incidence of emergency department visits and hospital admissions constitutes a significant challenge for healthcare systems in developed countries, including Switzerland. Although acute cardiopulmonary diseases are the most prevalent cause of admission, many patients present with a complex network of several chronic comorbidities.
During his inaugural lecture, Prof. Mattia Arrigo will use the example of contemporary state-of-the-art management of acute heart failure, thus highlighting the crucial role of hospital internal medicine for the treatment of acute and complex patients, promoting an integrated approach to care that is capable of responding to the new challenges of contemporary medicine.
The event is open to the USI community and the general public upon registration by 14 November.
