The call for applications for the Solidarity Scholarships Fund 2020 is open. The fund has been set up in support of students affected by the economic and social consequences of the COVID-19 emergency. The scholarships are need-based so that the precious resources can be directed to those experiencing financial difficulties, and they are intended for new students as well as for those who have already started their studies at USI. Although the call closes on 31 July 2020, priority will be given to applications submitted by 15 July 2020.

Our students are our most valuable asset. We are responsible for providing them with the best possible education to face future challenges. Unfortunately, several families are suffering from the economic and social consequences of the COVID-19 (new coronavirus) emergency, and several current and future USI students are experiencing difficulties in continuing or starting their studies.

To support them, USI has set up a solidarity fund, to which the university community, companies, institutions and people close to our University are contributing, to increase the number of scholarships available for current and future students.

How to apply

Enrolled USI Bachelor's or Master's students and future students who will attend a Bachelor or Master at USI in September 2020 can apply for the Solidarity Scholarships Fund 2020 by filling in the application forms:

Application form - Lugano Faculties

Application form - Academy

To ensure a complete and transparent procedure, students and prospective students shall apply by 31 July 2020; priority will be given to applications submitted by 15 July 2020.

The 2020 Solidarity Scholarships will be granted according to the relevant Regulations (click here to read the Regulations). For more information, please write to [email protected] (Lugano Faculties) / [email protected] (Academy).

Fundraising

The amount raised through the Solidarity Fund will be granted in full to USI Bachelor's and Master's students who are already enrolled in a programme or will be starting in September 2020, in the form of scholarships to cover semester tuition and, in selected cases, to support students' expenses. Compared to the scholarships already in place, the Solidarity Scholarships Fund 2020 is need-based, so that these precious resources can be directed to those in financial difficulty.

Fundraising will continue until 30 September 2020, to cover as many scholarships as possible throughout the academic year (two-semester fees) and/or to grant additional contributions to support students' expenses. Excess funds will be used to renew the scholarships for the academic year 2021-2022, as agreed upon by the bodies in charge of the awarding of the scholarships.
