A discussion on sustainable development. The interdisciplinary conference, sponsored by the Institute of Economics and L'ideatorio USI, will be held on Monday, 11 October 2021, in the West Campus Aula magna. The event is addressed to university students, high school students and the interested public.

Sustainable development has become a compelling theme for every field in society. It must find a time and ways so that this culture - political, social, economic, scientific, ethical - can become an opportunity for reflection and education within society. We know that the economic development model that we have been pursuing since the 1950s is unsustainable on several levels. We are not referring only to climate change but also migration, inadequate resources for the current and future population, increasing inequality, short-lived production and economic models. Therefore, it is necessary to show that there are alternative ways based on other types of financial, production and regulatory models that allow creating a new culture imbued with sustainability in all its aspects.

The conference is carried out with the support of AIL.
