The EACR European Association for Cancer Research has included a publication of the Institute of Oncology Research (IOR, affiliated to USI) in its "Top 10 Cancer Research Publications", which ranks the most interesting and impactful papers in cancer research.
The selected publication concerns the recent discovery of the Molecular Oncology group directed by Prof. Andrea Alimonti, MD, at the IOR, which reveals some mechanisms in the human intestine that could in the future change the therapeutic approach in cases of prostate cancer that has become resistant to castration (further details at >> www.usi.ch/en/feeds/17007).
The study, entitled "Commensal bacteria promote endocrine resistance in prostate cancer through androgen biosynthesis", is published in the prestigious journal Science and was conducted at the IOR in collaboration with the Institute of Cancer Research, London (UK) and the University of Padova (Italy).
