On 16 June 2023, "hope" will join "research" at the Run for Hope, which returns to Piazza Riforma in Lugano with the International Conference on Malignant Lymphomas ICML. Like last year, USI is promoting this event to help raise awareness of the disease and to raise funds for scientific cancer research. A pre-sale will be open at the East Campus Lugano Sports Hall.

All the money collected from registration fees and donations goes directly to the Cancer Research Foundation Ticino (Fondazione per la Ricerca sul Cancro Ticino). This foundation finances international research projects in Ticino carried out at IRB and IOR (Institute for Research in Biomedicine and the Institute of Oncology Research, affiliated with USI).

Starting on 1 June, you can purchase race packets in advance for the Run for Hope event at the East Campus Sports Hall reception desk. The packet costs 25 CHF for adults and 10 CHF for children and includes a 2nd class Arcobaleno day pass that is valid for all zones and means of transportation in the Ticino and Moesano area on the day of the event.

The Run for Hope event is a non-competitive celebration that is now in its 18th year. The route is almost 5 km and completely flat, allowing participants to run, march, or simply stroll through the charming streets of Lugano. From 3 pm, registration will be open for those who could not purchase tickets in advance. From 7 pm, an aperitif will be offered to all participants. The evening's programme includes various performances, presented as usual by Carla Norghauer, which will accompany the audience in Piazza Riforma until the start of the Run for Hope at 8:15 pm.

USI invites the academic community to run for research against cancer and to post their photographs on social media by tagging @usi_university.
