Swissnex top management toured the East Campus on the morning of Wednesday, 24 May 2023, during Swissnex Day 2023. The event brought together Swissnex staff from all over the world in Lugano. The delegation that visited the East Campus comprised around fifty people, including the heads of various Swissnex offices, scientific advisors from the consular network, and several members of the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation SBFI.

After the welcome address by USI's Pro-rector for Internationalisation Cesare Alippi, the Director of SUPSI's Department of Innovative Technologies (DTI) Milena Properzi and SBFI head of international relations Jacques Ducrest, the delegation moved to the multipurpose room to attend the presentation of USI Faculty of Informatics by Vice-Dean Ernst-Jan Camiel Wit. This was followed by a presentation by Milena Properzi of the DTI and then moved to the SUPSI Startup Garage for a presentation by Andrea Emilio Rizzoli, Director of the Dalle Molle Institute for Artificial Intelligence USI-SUPSI. It was then the turn of the Director of the USI Startup Centre, Francesco Lurati, who brought two young innovative entrepreneurs to the attention of Swissnex: Joy Bordini with the startup Go Healthy and Giuseppe Perale with the startup Regenera. The visit ended with a presentation of the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences by its Dean Giovanni Pedrazzini, and a networking lunch.

The goal of the Swissnex network is to foster connections between Switzerland and the rest of the world in the areas of education, research, and innovation. This network has a global presence with offices located in well-known innovation hubs across Japan, Brazil, the USA, China, and India. Additionally, scientific advisors can be found at Swiss embassies in major cities worldwide. The Swissnex network is an initiative of the State Secretariat for Education, Research, and Innovation (SBFI) and is part of the federal government's external network, which is led by the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
