The award ceremony for the 2022 Venka Miletic Award was held on Wednesday 18 October 2023 in the Bellinzona Municipal Council Chamber. The recognition, promoted by the Sasso Corbaro Foundation for the Medical Humanities (associated to USI), was awarded to Zeriyan Nasrallah, from Lugano, who is enrolled in the social work degree course at the SUPSI Department of Business Economics, Health and Social Care, for her bachelor's thesis entitled: "Esserci. I vissuti relazionali dei membri del Club'74 nel contesto del Servizio di socioterapia dell'Organizzazione sociopsichiatrica cantonale" ("Being there. The relational experiences of Club'74 members in the context of the socio-therapeutic service of the cantonal socio-psychiatric organisation".

The award, worth 10,000 Swiss francs and now in its eighth edition, was established in memory of Venka Miletic and is up for grabs by the Sasso Corbaro Foundation for the Medical Humanities, an institute associated with the Università della Svizzera italiana.

The award is intended to honour the memory of Venka Miletic, who died in 2013 in Lugano at the age of 62; throughout her long association with disease, she always demonstrated to caregivers the importance of ensuring patients the comfort of hope, understood as an irreplaceable resource in the battle against disease.
