The Bios+ association, which comprises the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB) and the Institute of Oncology Research (IOR), both affiliated with Università della Svizzera italiana, and the IBSA Foundation, have organised a Forum centred around the topic of ageing. The event will feature presentations from global experts who will discuss the latest findings in molecular, cellular, and organic research related to ageing. Additionally, they will examine the influence of social relationships and cultural activities on improving the quality of life. The forum will take place at Bios+ headquarters in Bellinzona on Thursday, 31 August, starting at 2 pm.

Given the relevance of aging in Swiss society — with the Ticino Region having the highest longevity in Europe – the Forum aims to promote awareness about aging in both the scientific community and the population. The Forum entitled “New Frontiers in the biological and environmental determinants of aging” brings together international experts from various disciplines (Biology, Psychology and Epidemiology) to discuss aging from their perspectives.

The Forum will emphasise the need for interdisciplinary collaboration between healthcare practitioners, researchers and experts from other fields to establish aging-longevity medicine as a strong clinical and academic specialty. By working together, professionals from various disciplines can bring their unique perspectives and expertise to the table, leading to better approaches and solutions to aging-related issues.
